How this site makes money
Carbon Wheel Finder is free to use and carries no display advertising. It is funded by affiliate commission: when you follow a link to a retailer and buy something, that retailer may pay us a small percentage of the sale.
Some links on this site are affiliate links. They are marked with rel="sponsored" in the page source, and cost you nothing extra — the price you pay is identical either way.
What commission does not buy
It does not buy position. The index is ordered by whatever filter and sort you choose. The fitting sheet's results are produced by a scoring rule set — discipline, rim depth against terrain, your stated priority, and published weight limits — described openly on the results page. No retailer or maker can pay to move up either one, and we do not accept payment to add, remove or reword an entry.
Every wheelset also carries a direct link to the maker's own page, which earns us nothing. If the most useful thing we can do is send you somewhere we do not get paid, that is what the page does.
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Our Amazon store tag is poize-21, and it is visible in the URL of every Amazon link on this site.
How prices are ordered
Retailers on a wheelset are ordered by price, then by whether the item is in stock, then by how recently we checked. That ordering is done by one function, and that function is in a module which does not import the affiliate configuration at all — it has no way to know which shops pay us, so it cannot favour them. A self-check in the build tooling asserts both facts, and refuses to collect prices if either stops being true.
Prices come from retailer product feeds and, for Amazon, from the Product Advertising API — never from scraping a shop that has not agreed to it. Each price is stamped with the day it was read, and an Amazon price is withheld entirely once it is more than 24 hours old, as that programme requires. Where we have not checked a retailer, we say so rather than showing a stale number.
We do not describe anything as a deal for being below RRP. Value labels are calculated only against prices we have recorded ourselves, and stay switched off until there is enough history to mean something.

What we measure
We count page views using Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not fingerprint you or follow you to other sites — which is why this site has no cookie banner. We can see that a page was viewed; we cannot see who you are.
We use it for one thing: working out which wheelsets people actually look at, so we verify those specifications first.
If you sign up for price alerts we use your address for exactly that. It is not sold, rented or shared, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
